TOO REAL TO SLICE AT THE IDEAL HOME SHOW

TOO REAL TO SLICE AT THE IDEAL HOME SHOW

We love a showstopping bake—and this year’s Cake Competition at the Ideal Home Show served up an unforgettable feast for the eyes. With an 'Illusion Cakes - Home Edition' theme, the contestants pulled out all the stops, transforming sponge, icing and sheer imagination into creations that had visitors gasping in disbelief.

Taking first place was Joanne Matthews’ witty creation, Scrub-a-Dub
Styled as a washing-up bowl complete with suds, sponges and Fairy Liquid, the detail was so spot-on, many thought it was the real thing.

In second place, Danielle Rigg’s Seafood Dreams
This brought the seaside to life with a carefully painted lobster, prawns and fillets laid out like a freshly prepared platter. The colour and brushwork were simply exquisite.

Third prize went to Daisy Brydon for Addicted to Coffee
A masterful illusion of a sleek coffee machine, complete with pods and a steaming cup—every element full of clever detail and charm.

KitchenAid prizes were presented by none other than Oli the Choc, adding an extra sparkle to the ceremony. Though we didn’t organise or judge the competition, we at The Cake & Bake Show were blown away by the creativity and talent on show.

Congratulations to all the finalists for pushing the boundaries of baking design. We’re already looking forward to seeing what next year’s competition will bring!
