Theme 1 - All Things Musicals!

On the 24th of November, musical fans will flock to the cinema for the eagerly anticipated release of 'Wicked' the movie! This iconic musical is a huge inspiration to this year's Cake Competition theme, and we're inviting all musical and baking lovers to participate!

All Things Musicals! is your chance to express your creativity and skill to make and decorate your most colourful, extravagant cakes that boast in musical excellence.

From classics such as 'Singing In The Rain' to 'La La Land', take center stage with your design, think big and bold!

Break a leg!

Theme 2 - Gingerbread House

If you have a taste for Gingerbread House creating and decorating, this is the competition for you! From festive grottos and ski lodges, to townhouses and hotels - this is your opportunity to construct and decorate the ultimate Gingerbread House.

This is the perfect competition for budding bakers of all ages. Family and school entries welcome too!  

Categories

The two main categories of the competition are:

  • All Things Musicals! Cake Competition
  • Gingerbread House

These categories are open for competitors of all ages, and you can enter in both!

Our Cake & Bake celebrity experts will be judging this years competitions, whilst our hand-picked industry expert provides expertise and commentary on the designs as they are being judged.

Judging

Criteria:

  • Originality and creativity of design
  • Overall visual impact
  • Skills and execution of technique
  • Interpretation of the theme
  • Cake must fit within a base area of 38cm x 38cm (15" x 15") square and there are no height restrictions
  • Cake will not be judged on taste, they are solely judged on appearance
  • Any edible medium may be used and wires, tape, ribbon and stamen are allowed
  • Internal supports and dummies are allowed

The important bits

Cakes  and Gingerbread Houses must be dropped off at The Cake & Bake Show section of the Ideal Home Show Christmas at Olympia, London on Tuesday 26th November between 4-6pm. Please note you will be sent an information pack via email once you have entered. Please allow a few days for this to come through.

Your cake must then stay on display at the event until 5pm on Sunday 1st December.

All competition pieces must ONLY be removed between 5pm-6pm on Sunday 1st December and strictly NOT before. The organisers reserve the right to remove and dispose of any competition pieces not collected during this time.
