At the Cake and Bake Show 2024, we were delighted to collaborate with award-winning cake artist Jane Lashbrook from Fabulously Fondant to create this year’s Showstopper. Jane, known for her breathtaking edible art, spent an incredible three days sculpting Elphaba’s head alone. The body of the cake was made from fondant, and the entire creation, weighing 70kg of chocolate and fondant, was a true masterpiece.
Using Saracino’s award-winning modelling paste, Jane’s expertise and passion for her craft shone through, creating a gravity-defying, theatrical cake installation. This stunning creation captured the essence of the iconic character from Wicked, combining artistry, precision, and creativity to make it an unforgettable feature of the show. Jane’s work, celebrated for its creativity and precision, was the perfect way to honour Wicked's cultural impact. Her remarkable cake installation left visitors astounded, making it one of the undeniable highlights of the event. With the ongoing success of the film and musical, Jane’s showstopper cake was the ideal tribute to this iconic moment in theatre and film history.
