Zoë Burmester is a multi award winning cake artist, known for her playful and often seemingly impossible cake sculptures. A former London based film and TV set stylist, Zoë swapped her creative canvas from sets to cakes, and works out of a dedicated cake studio in Somerset.
In 2016 she established Sugar Street Studios and her reputation for artistic flair and a quirky approach to cake design grew. She is always looking to push the boundaries with the art form, and more often than not produces cakes that simply don’t look like cakes!
Zoë is a self taught and passionate baker, who has been creating cakes and confections since childhood. Whilst she thrives on the artistic challenge, the cake itself is the proud focus of all her edible art. Zoë likes to use local ingredients where possible, taking advantage of the best dairy, farm and orchard produce available in Somerset.
Zoë is a regular columnist and writer for industry magazines, publishes tutorials online via Youtube and when not creating edible sculptures for private and corporate customers, she also teaches and presents demonstrations around the country at food festivals and cake shows. In 2016 she was crowned winner of Kirstie Allsop’s Handmade Christmas, a TV cake competition, and in 2019 she joined the talented team of cake decorators on Channel 4’s award winning TV series Extreme Cake Makers.
