Paul Jagger has been a prison governor for eight years and performed ceremonial duties in the Coldstream Guards at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the traditional parade to mark the Queen’s official birthday, Trooping the Colour. Making it to the quarter-final of BBC’s hit show The Great British Bake Off, his time on the series was “an opportunity to show that men like me, stereotyped by our jobs, do and can love baking and that it is a skill and talent to be proud of.

Paul soon became a favourite on the show after he constructed a lion made entirely from bread, with judge Paul Hollywood saying it’s one of the “best things” he’s ever seen made out of bread and that even he wouldn’t have dared to take on such a challenge.
