It’s that exciting time again…The Official Show Cake Competition is back with a bang! Whether you’re a professional or a self-taught baker, it’s time to show off your baking and cake decorating skills to thousands of visitors, not forgetting the professional judges, at this year’s Show!

The Cake & Bake Show is open at the end of October, meaning there is one theme we think it is only right, therefore this year’s theme is ‘Halloween’. This theme gives you a very wide scope of what you can create, think big & spooky, striking & eerie. Don’t hold back!
Judges & Prizes
Our Cake & Bake celebrity experts, Rosemary Shrager and Mollie Robbins will be judging this years three Cake Competitions, while Cherish Finden gives her expertise ont he cakes whilst they are being judged! Prizes to be won for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place for each competition,
PLUS win £1,000 for 'Best in show' cake!
Judging Criteria
Main Competition One and Two and Kids Competition
- Originality and creativity of design
- Overall visual impact
- Skills and execution of technique
- Interpretation of the theme
- Cake must fit within a base area of 38cm x 38cm (15" x 15") square and there are no height
restrictions - Cake will not be judged on taste, they are solely judged on appearance
- Any edible medium may be used and wires, tape, ribbon and stamen are allowed
- Internal supports and dummies are allowed.
- To be eligible for the Kids Competition, it will be for under 15s Only
Cupcake Competition
- Originality and creativity of design
- Overall visual impact
- Skills and execution of technique
- Interpretation of the theme
- A display of 12 decorated cupcakes adhering to the competition theme of Illusion Cakes
- Dummies are not permitted
- Stands are permitted
- No height restriction
- Cake will not be judged on taste, they are solely judged on appearance
- Cupcakes must fit within a base area of 38cm x 38cm (15" x 15"), there is no restriction on height
- Any edible medium may be used and wires, tape, ribbon and stamen are allowe
The Important Bits
- Cakes must be dropped off at The Cake & Bake Show at Excel, London on Thursday 20th October between 4-6pm. Please note you will be sent an information pack via email once you have entered.
- Your cake must then stay on display at the event until 5pm on Sunday 23rd October.
- All competition pieces must ONLY be removed between 5pm-6pm on Sunday 23rd October and strictly NOT before. The organisers reserve the right to remove and dispose of any competition pieces not collected during this time.
Terms and Conditions
Liability
- The Cake & Bake Show will not be liable for any circumstances beyond its reasonable control that prevent the Competition being fulfilled, a winner chosen, or the Prize being taken up or fully enjoyed by the winner of the Competition. The Cake & Bake Show exclude liability to the full extent permitted by law for any cost, claims or losses howsoever caused that arise by reason of any persons’ entry in the Competition or the award on non-award to them of the prize.
- The Cake & Bake Show accepts no responsibility for entries to the Competition due to computer, system or server error in transit.
Intellectual Property Rights and Data Protection
- You agree the The Cake & Bake Show may use your competition entry (whether or not it wins the competition) for any promotional purpose (for example, placing it on the website or on any poster, leaflet or other advertising media.) You confirm that your entry is original and that you own and have the right to license The Cake & Bake Show the copyright and other intellectual property rights in the Entry for the purposes referred to in these Rules. You will retain ownership of copyright in your Entry but you give the The Cake & Bake Show your irrevocable permission to us, reproduce, publish, display, transmit, copy, amend, store, sell and sublicense.
- The Cake & Bake Show will use the name that you provide with your Entry for the purposes of the Competition and, where you have given your consent, for marketing purposes including the distribution of regular email updates or newsletters. Any personal information relating to you will be used solely by us in accordance with applicable data protection legislation. If you are the chosen prize winner you unconditionally agree (as a condition of accepting the Prize) to the use of your name and you photograph.
- By entering the competition you are agreeing for photographs taken of your Entry at the show to be used across The Cake & Bake Show website and social media channels.

It is free to enter and you are welcome to enter more than one competition with a separate entry. All entrants will receive 3 complimentary tickets for friends and family which they will be given when they drop of their cake on the Thursday. You will be sent a follow-up email with more information on this.
