Natalie Porter is a multi-award winning cake decorator, known for creating wedding cakes that feature big bright floral arrangements. She loves being a regular contributor to Cake Decoration & Sugarcraft magazine and sharing her knowledge and skills when she travels and teaches all around the country. Around eighteen months ago she invented a tool for making sugar roses and peonies; the Rapid Rose - and is delighted to have sold thousands, helping other cake makers to create big beautiful flowers! Being a total chatterbox, she is looking to forward to show season and meeting all the lovely readers and sharing her techniques for using the Rapid Rose!
This cake embodies everything about Autumn: bright warm oranges and ochres, twigs and lush berries, paired with that bright flash of gold. My favourite part is the range of berries used - blackberries, acorns and glazed red berries - adding interest and detail to the design, alongside a variety of autumnal leaves.

Clean, simple and elegant, this wedding cake is super stylish despite sticking to a two-tone colour palette of green and white. Sometimes less is more and definitely true with this classic design. The berries and filler flowers add detail, without compromising the simple elegance of the colour palette.
The dark moody colour palette of this design really stands out as it's so unusual for a wedding cake. The combination of a deep navy base really contrasts with the bright blues, lilacs and magenta of the flowers. With the right combination of colours, deep colours on a cake can be amazing - be brave and experiment!
